Welcome to Exhibit Hall 2017

Anyone interested in entering exhibits in our 2016 Exhibit Hall competition should download a copy of           the Hall Book - 2017. The book provides a listing of classes that may be entered. Please check Pages 2 and 3 of the Book for Rules and Regulations regarding entries. Entries must be made on the special                     Hall Entry Form - 2017. A separate entry form must be filled out by every exhibitor and only one entry per class is allowed.  Check the orange buttons at the bottom of this page for more links.

Please note that large print Hall Books will only be available at the office and will not be mailed out.

The Exhibit Hall will be open the following times during the Fair:
Thursday, 12 noon to 8 p.m
Friday, 11 a.m to 8 p.m
Saturday, 11 a.m to 6 p.m

ENTRIES CLOSE WEDNESDAY JULY 19TH, 2017. No exceptions.

  • NEW: Entry fee will be 10 percent of the winnings per exhibitor, based on total winnings of $10 or more. Youth classes are exempt from this fee.

  • NEW: Prize payouts (minus 10 percent entry fee for non-Youth classes) will be available for pickup at the Vermilion Ag Society office between August 14 and August 31, 2017. Exhibitors with mailing addresses outside of Vermilion will receive their prize payouts by mail. Any prize payouts not collected by August 31st (end of business day) will be forfeited.


  • Please read directions carefully for each section (regarding dimensions, size, quantity of items required, etc). Failure to follow directions will result in the item being disqualified.
  • Exhibitors in Hall Exhibits are not required to be members of the Society, although they are cordially invited to become members.  Membership is $1.00 per year.

  • Entries MUST be listed on the Entry Form in the order shown in the Prize List. A separate Entry Form must be filled out by each exhibitor. No exhibitor may show more than one exhibit in any one class.

  • The directors may require any exhibitor, if the question arises, to make a statutory declaration that the work exhibited is of the exhibitor’s own making and/or has not previously been shown at the Vermilion Fair.

  • Articles shown in collections cannot be shown in single classes or vice versa.  No article will be judged in more than one section. 

  • The judges are instructed not to award prizes unless the articles are deemed worthy of merit or to articles borrowed or purchased for competition or to those incorrectly named or listed.

  • All exhibits must be fresh and clean. Articles that are defaced by wear, soiled, or unfinished are not eligible for competition and will not be accepted or entered for prizes by the Directors in charge. Wearing apparel exhibited may have been worn, but must be cleaned and pressed. 

  • The judges will cut all loaves and cakes and open all exhibits shown in jars.

  • Judges’ decisions are final. When there is only one exhibitor in a class, the first prize, if merited, will be awarded. When articles are not worthy of first prize, judges may, at their discretion, award a prize or prizes of such grade as the articles merit.  Hall Directors cannot hold a judging position or serve as judges. 

  • All food & perishable items will be shown uncovered. Exhibitors can have their items returned. Any unclaimed exhibits or containers will be donated locally after a 2 week holding period at the office.

  • Tags must be picked up at the office PRIOR to judging, and must be attached to all exhibits before bringing them to the Exhibit Hall.  Summer hours beginning June 1st of the Vermilion Agricultural Society office are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

  • EXHIBITORS PLEASE NOTE: All exhibits must be in place between 9 a.m. & 12 noon Wednesday, July 26th, 2017, and must not be removed from the building before 6 p.m. of the last day of the fair. 

  • The summer hours of the Vermilion Agricultural Society office will be Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. 

  • Exhibit Hall will be closed at 

    6:00 p.m. on the last day of the Fair; exhibits to be picked up AND prize money collected not later than 

    8:00 p.m.

     

    Exhibits may also be picked up on Sunday between 9:00 a.m. & 11:00 a.m.  Exhibitors must be accompanied by a director when picking up exhibits.  “Please arrange to have someone pick up exhibits if you are unable to do so.”

The hall book recipe of the year can be viewed or downloaded by clicking the appropriate link below.

The products entered in the Recipe of the Year classes must be displayed on a paper plate, with only three items per plate.
